Burleson homeowners ask about tub-to-shower conversions for very different reasons depending on when their house went up. Some are dealing with a tub that has been in place for fifty years; others have a newer home with a big tub that just does not get used.
Either way, the job is the same at its core: take the bathtub out completely and build a walk-in shower that is easier and safer to use every day.

From Railroad Depot to Commuter Suburb
Burleson started as a stop on the line. The Handbook of Texas records that the Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railroad built a depot here in 1881, and the Rev. Henry C. Renfro named it for his former teacher, Dr. Rufus C. Burleson, who went on to lead Baylor University. An interurban line to the area opened in 1912, but the town stayed small for decades, with fewer than 800 residents in 1950.
Then it took off in two distinct waves. After World War II, the Mound, Tarrant, Crestmoor and Montclair additions were annexed and the population climbed to 2,345 by 1960 and 7,713 by 1970. The bigger wave came much later: Burleson grew from 20,976 people in 2000 to 36,690 in 2010 and has kept growing since.
Census estimates show that split clearly. About half of Burleson's homes were built between 2000 and 2019, and the median house dates to 2002. Yet roughly one in six were built in the 1960s and 1970s, and about 19% of the city's housing predates 1980.
Those two groups usually need different things. In the older houses, the tub is often the original steel or cast-iron model in a tiled alcove, or a replacement that is itself decades old, and the surround has been patched more than once. In the newer subdivisions, the primary suite commonly has a large garden tub beside a separate shower, plus fiberglass tub-shower combos in the secondary baths. About 12.5% of Burleson residents are 65 or older, below the national share, so for many owners this is less about a current need and more about not having to remodel again in ten years.
We size each project to the house in front of us. During a free in-home assessment we look at the tub, the wall behind it, and the plumbing, then design a shower that fits that space, whether it is a 1960s alcove or a 2000s primary suite.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Burleson house is from the 1960s or 70s. What should I expect behind the old tub?
Houses that age sometimes show wear in the framing or old plumbing once the tub and surround come out. We look closely during the free in-home assessment, and if we find something after removal, we show you and explain the options before going further.
We are in a newer Burleson subdivision with a garden tub. Can that become a walk-in shower?
Yes. We remove the garden tub and its deck and build a walk-in shower in that space, designed around the existing plumbing. Many owners keep a tub in a secondary bathroom so there is still one in the house.
Part of Burleson is in Tarrant County. Does that change anything?
Not for how we work. We confirm requirements with the City of Burleson for your specific project and handle any permitting needed, wherever in the city your home is.
How long does a conversion take?
Most conversions are completed in about two days, and they come with our Limited Lifetime Warranty.
